Hello! I've recently purchased my physical copy of the Kalijor RPG off of Lulu, and so far I'm loving the game. The dual setting concept is pretty awesome, and I am VERY much looking forward to more information and supplements. Equally, I'm very fond of the system itself, from character creation with its mix of random generation and point-based generation, to the combat system which seems like it would flow especially well.

However, I've got some questions about certain elements of the system that don't seem entirely clear to me. I'll try to take these in order.

On Page 24 of the rulebook, the text says that on leveling, a character gets, among other things, "2 Character Development Points (plus any gained as a result of attribute bonuses)". So far I've been unable to find how to determine which attribute bonuses give you Development Points for leveling up.

Next is more of a desire for clarification: on pages 26 and 28, (which seems to be born out in the rules for Cybernetic and Genetics), I was simply wondering why it was more expensive for a Gene-Line to increase their attributes past 30 than it was for a Tech-Line?

On page 117, humans in the world of Kalijor are listed as having 1d6x10+60 for their attribute pool, significantly less than the other races of Kalijor, as well as less than humans in the real world, who are listed on page 25 as having 2d6+60 points for attributes. Is this a design choice?

On page 148 there is a reference to rune weapons, but I can't seem to locate anything else about them in the book. Will they appear in a future supplement?

And finally on pages 237-238, I notice that while the Soak values are higher, the Physical Health values of the military pressure suits and armor are lower (sometimes significantly lower) than the consumer models. Compare Class C's Consumer Hard Armor with 250 Physical Health to Class C Military Hard Armor with 85 Physical Health, for one example. Are these values correct?

Thanks very much in advance for any time you can spare answering these questions! Again, I love the Kalijor game, and I'm looking forward to running it for my group one day.

Heyas!

Again, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It's a lame excuse, but I have been supper busy and neglected the forums a bit. :( I'm back on it now though, so keep the questions coming!

First off, thank you again for picking up the game and stopping by the site. I'll be watching the forums much more closely going forward, so please do continue to bring questions and comments here.

Now, to your questions!
On page 17 there wis a table that identifies which attributes affect which bonuses. For character development points, it is either your Strength or your Intelligence, whichever is in the higher pool. So with an Int of 41, you'd get +2 development points at character creation, and every time you leveled up. :)

The expense of increasing attributes for a gene-line over a tech-line is meant to illustrate the difficulty of working on genetics vs. cybernetics. It's also meant to balance out with other things such as biological weapons not needing external power or magazines to function, etc.

Humans in Kalijor are meant to be a sort of 'middle of the road' race, where attribute allocation is much more in the player's control (more level/neutral starting balances). That said, they get 1D6x10+60 points which is a total possible of 120, vs. the tech world's Base-Line race allocation of 2D6+60 which is a total of only 72 maximum. The swing is much wider on the fantasy human, but their potential is much higher. :)

Rune weapons will definitely be appearing in future supplements! :)

We just caught the armor discrepancies ourselves. :( I've got them updated and adjusted properly and I'll be posting the correct info in a new heading on the main website. Please keep an eye out for it this coming week, and I'll drop a note here as well, once I put it up.

I think that's got it all, but please let me know if I missed anything or if you have other/additional questions!

Thank you again for picking up the game!

Okies,

I've added a new section to the web site that is where we will cover misses and changes from the book(s). Changes that need to be known for the core book, beginning with the armor issues mentioned above, can be found here: http://www.kalijor.com/rpg/cha.....ook-errata

Please let me know if you come up with additional questions, or identify other points of concern and we'll get things nailed down as quickly as possible.

Thanks again, and I hope you have an awesome day!

Hey again, and thanks for the reply to my questions! You've cleared most of them up quite well, but I'm afraid there's still some confusion for me about humans in Kalijor vs. the tech world's Base-Line humans.

In examining my initial post, I caught a typo on my part...I'd said the tech world base-line humans had 2d6+60 points, but what I meant to say was that on page 25, they're listed as having 2d6x10+60 points, giving them a maximum of 180 vs. the Kalijor's humans' 120 max points. But your reply leaves me confused. Are the tech world attributes listed for humans a misprint on page 25?

Also, I kind of want to kick myself...there was a further mention of Rune Weapons, complete with some mechanical descriptions, under the Rune Weapon spell on pages 173-174. No idea how I missed that, but now I feel silly.

And hey, thanks once more for replying to my questions, and for posting the armor errata!

Hello!

So, yes, you're absolutely correct. Humans in Kalijor should get the same 2D6x10+60 attribute pool as Base-Line Humans do in the future setting. I'll plug that into the errata here ASAP. Thank you for catching that. It's amazing what two years in play testing with dozens of people still doesn't catch. :/

As for the rune weapons, yes there is the spell, but there will also be named, one-off, and other more powerful, unique, and interesting rune weapons in future supplements. Right now I'm putting the finishing touches on the Rathalon sourcebook, then I'll do one for the Earth Ring Station. After that I'll do another Kalior city and so on. There will be some interesting weapon and weapon-related stuff in the Talanor book, and I've got about 40 pages of the 'Magic Items of Kalijor' already written, in which there are piles of unique magic weapons and items to play with.

It's my pleasure to help out. Thank ~you~ for picking up the game and giving it a shot. We've thoroughly enjoyed creating and testing it and, while it has a few hiccups, we're confident it will grow to be a great game system and world!
