Kalijor

The world in which Riana Thorindal was conceived and grew up. Kalijor is a land mass covering approximately ten-thousand square miles. It is split by the impassible Uraval mountain range that runs North and South almost the entire length of the world. On the Northern end of the Uraval Mountains is the City of Rathalon , carved from the living rock and of a scale large enough to house millions of individuals. North of Rathalon is a cold, snowy wasteland known as the Southern Wastes that is crawling with Orcs. North of that is the underground dwarven city of Talanor where most of the best craftsmen in the world can be found. On the Southern tip of the Uraval Mountains is the sky city of Avian where the majestic, winged elves make their home. Avian is built in the branches of a miles high stone tree that was formed by one of the more powerful mages involved in the great wars millennia ago. South of Avian is the Burning Expanse, a vast dessert of shifting sands and nothing else for miles, this is where most criminals and people who don’t want to be found disappear to as it is difficult at best to track someone down in the parched lands. On the Western slope of the Uraval Mountains lay the forest of Brume , an ancient forest that is home to many creatures including Orcs, Goblins, Kobolds, and other more mundane life. Within the heart of the forest of Brume lies the entrance to the other-dimensional city of Pandoria , which is the primary elven city that is literally grown into the giant trees by the druids. On the Eastern slope of the mountains is the Plain of Sorrow where all things of great evil eventually end up taking residence. Kalijor is a virtual world that exists inside computers and is populated by a combination of computer controlled NPC’s (Non Player Characters), and real people that take on the roles of people in the world. Kalijor is one of several Massively Multiplayer Online Games that the people of the ‘real’ world use as recreation. There is a time differential in Kalijor of three to one, meaning that every minute that passes in the real world sees three minutes pass in Kalijor.
